Son, yesterday, you blew me away. You made me cry endlessly and stopped my heart cold. When I saw your face, I fell in love once again in my life. 9 months I thought about what you would look like and today, my questions have all been answered.

Around 4pm, your mom started pushing and pushing and even the doctor said that she was a great pusher. She pushed so hard that her face turned maroon but after 20 mins of intense pushing, your heart rate dropped below 40 bpm. Dr Wang said that she was going to perform an emergency C-section if that were to happen and at the drop of a hat, they wheeled your mom off to the O.R. My heart dropped in an instant but that was all second fiddle when the mad dash to the O.R. was happening.

The best way to explain it is “chaos”. I keep telling people that nurses and doctors were coming out of every door, closet, hole in order to get to the O.R. As I chased your mom down the halls, Grandma and Grandpa Choi finally ended up finding your mom and I but under very stressful and frightening conditions. To add to the pressure, they were escorting your grandparents to the waiting room. Another nurse starts prepping me but by the time I get to the entrance of the O.R., they tell me to hold on for just a minute. I stood there while thoughts of every worse case scenario came into my mind. By the time they let me in, they had already pulled you out and I heard your voice for the first time. You made me tear up in an instant. “Congratulations! It’s a boy” they all shouted! When they heard that I didn’t know your sex, they all took a moment to say how amazing that was and how that is how things should be.

I finally made my way into the O.R. and the moment I did, they handed me a pair of surgical scissors to cut your umbilical cord and then I saw your face. I cannot recall what I thought the moment I saw you cause I had mixed emotions about your mom’s surgery. I could not see her or hear her and the thought that she was not there in your very first moments, well it made me very sad. Of course, I didn’t have my camera on me as I got lost in the shuffle. As funny as it sounds, the only camera I had on me was my iPhone and well, that was gonna have to be good enough. So I must have taken about 50 photos in just a few minutes before I had the opportunity to give you a kiss. After pissing on the nurse, getting I.D. tags, diapers and being weighed, I was able to finally take you to the recovery room where your mom was going to moved to.

After what seemed like an hour, your mom was wheeled in and I was able to see all the pain she was in. I have never seen your mom in that much pain, she is usually a trooper when it comes to pain and it tore me up inside. In all her agonizing pain, I knew the one thing that would counter the hurt was to see, hear and feel you and to me, this photo is worthy of the one picture to represent your first day. To your mom and all the mom’s out there, you have my continued respect and thank you for doing what you do. Men would definitely crumble if we had to do anything near that. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Kaiser for your talent and skill and most of all, your love. It really shined through and thank you to my wife, you will never know how much I love you. Happy birthday my son!

Yea the title is pretty cheesy but I just couldn’t help myself….
Evan is the pride and joy of Josh and Pam and after spending a short time with him, we quickly found out why.
Evan doesn’t cry much. We could run off with him and he’d be all smiles.
We love children like this… smiles all day and just enjoys being Evan.
Just a few snaps from today…

The Navalta’s are expecting their newest member of the family in a few months and wanted to sneak in some portraits before Baby Khloe arrived.

The light was beautiful and the Navalta’s were excited… the formula for beautiful portraits…

We decided to do some straight portraits along with some images that are more relaxed and candid.

Our second session with the Luftman Family was filled with so much exciting moments that it was hard to choose the images to show off on this blog.

We had the pleasure of meeting Amanda’s parents who are very interesting as they are not your average grandparents. They have so much life in them! The best part is, Amanda’s mom is not afraid to tell it how it is. I love honest people!

Capturing these beautiful moments was a breeze.
Ingredients:
1. Get gorgeous family
2. Make sure they have personalities
3. If energy levels are low, exclude from shoot.
4. Whatever you cannot get on camera, complete in photoshop!

We love the Luftman’s and hope that you guys enjoy these photos….

Hannah’s day at the park started out a bit rough as she wasn’t feeling very well but what little girl can pass up the chance to fly Dora the Explorer??!!

The kite turned out to be a success as Hannah ran around watching Dora go higher and higher. That is until park security stopped us! No flying kites at a park??!!

Yes it was true. Fortunately, since it was a warm day, the creek was the next best solution.

Hannah’s face definitely lit up as she jumped, splashed and played til her heart’s delight!

Check it out!

We get a call only a week prior to the baptism. Luz tells us that she didn’t even think about hiring a photographer to photograph all three of her children getting baptized on the same day!

Lucky enough, the light was superb that morning and we were able to capture some beautiful moments.

It was an honor getting to know all the members of the Garcia family and it made Methuselah and I cherish the kind of relationship you guys have.

God bless…

What a day!
The winds picked up today like you wouldn’t believe.
Santa Ana winds blew so hard that trees on Katrina’s street were falling apart.
In fact, the tree in the front of their neighbors house came tumbling down and landed on a car on their driveway. Luckily no one was injured.

We had a blast meeting Katrina and her mom (Amanda) who were so gracious to us.
It wasn’t very hard to get great photos of Katrina, being that she’s so sweet and adorable.
However, it was her free spirit that really made the photos special.
Capturing Katrina run, jump, and chase bubbles was a complete joy for us.
Made us feel young again but also reminded us of how old are bodies are getting older, slower and more brittle!

We were able to capture one of our favorite photos of all time! Jump Katrina, Jump!

We are blessed to have met such a wonderful family and look forward to watching them grow!

So we met Mia and Nyla at the Getty Museum on a cool and breezy afternoon.

As soon as we met Mia, we knew that this little firecracker was going to have a blast being photographed by a couple of dorks like us! Although we did see Mia hiding behind mom and dad originally, she soon came out of her shell and it was non-stop action from there!

Nyla was a different story. She didn’t exactly warm up to us quickly. We were just a bunch of strange people with big black boxes all up in her face but I knew that I could break her and get her to like me. It wasn’t until the end of the day that she started to grow on me. I could tell that she was giving in, mainly from the hitting, pinching and then the surprise bite on my thigh!

We had a blast getting to know this dynamic duo and hope to have the honor of photographing them again!
